Event Rules
Ohio Classic Motorcycle Skills Event Rules.
All rules are subject to adjustment without notification.
There will be NO REFUNDS. Please check your schedule prior to registering. There will be NO REFUNDS.
All rules will be explained during rider walk thru.
Attendees are requested to act in a way that respects the event's positive atmosphere. Behavior that could be perceived as negative or disruptive will result in immediate disqualification and you will be requested to leave the event.

No instructor of Ohio Elite Motorcycle Training will be eligible to participate in this event. We feel there may be an unfair advantage due to course familiarity.
No pattern diagrams will be released prior to the start of the training event.
All riders must have a valid motorcycle endorsement and must have insurance on their motorcycle.
All riders must wear a helmet, eye protection, gloves, long pants, and over the ankle footwear.
All motorcycles (Novice and Expert) must be at least 1,000cc.
All motorcycles (Novice and Expert) must be equipped from the factory, with saddlebags. All motorcycles must be in stock configuration. Engine guards, saddle bags, OEM tire sizes, steering geometry must be as from the factory. Exceptions will be minor adjustments such as tire brand, extended rear brake lever, seat risers, etc.
Riders in Police Novice and Police Expert must operate their department issued motorcycles, or equivalent.
CLASSES
Police Expert- Any active or retired police motorcycle officer (must show retired police officer ID), operating his/her department issued motorcycle or equivalent (must be 2009 or newer) who has placed in any prior motorcycle skills training event. Any police motorcycle officer or retired officer who is a motorcycle instructor.
Police Novice- Any active, retired police motorcycle officer (must show retired police officer ID), or first responder operating his/her department issued motorcycle or equivalent (must be 2009 or newer) who has never entered a motorcycle skills training event or never placed in a motorcycle skills event. Police Novice riders must not be a motorcycle instructor.
Civilian Expert- Any civilian rider who is any type of motorcycle instructor. Any civilian rider who has placed in a prior motorcycle skills event.
Civilian Novice- Any civilian rider who is not a motorcycle instructor and any civilian rider who has not placed in a prior motorcycle skills event.
Inaugural- The rider must be a civilian. The rider must not be an instructor. This must be the rider's first motorcycle skills event. The rider must not have entered any prior motorcycle skills event(s).

RULES COMMITTEE
There will be a Rules Committee created at the beginning of the event. One rider, from each class, will be randomly drawn to be part of the rules committee. In the event of a complaint from a rider, the Rules Committee will meet and determine a verdict on the complaint. If the complaining rider is part of the Rules Committee, another rider will be randomly drawn to replace that particular member of the Rule Committee.
​​​Penalty Points
Penalty points will be assessed as follows:

Cone, barrier wall, etc. dislodged from its location to include cones knocked down, hit or moved from its location to the point where a scoring judge must correct the cone to the correct position: 5 seconds.

If a cone is rubbed but not moved off its marked base, no penalty.​

Rider drops motorcycle within the course: 10 seconds.

Rider puts foot down: 5 seconds. This penalty will only be applied for one movement or evolution. Example - if a rider must backup the motorcycle in the exercise in order to correct or continue the movement, only a single penalty will be applied.

If a rider rides out of a course, they MUST re-enter the course where they exited: 5 seconds.

Clean ride bonus - 5 seconds deducted from the rider’s timed run. In order to qualify for this bonus, the rider must have clean runs on all precision patterns and their timed run.

If the path of travel is not followed = Disqualified.

Fail to complete an exercise = Disqualified.

​If an event, or a portion of an event is deemed brakeless, the rider must not cover the rear or front brake. If brakes are applied, the rider will assessed a 20 second penalty for each occurrence.
Combination of Precision and Timed Run will determine Overall Top Rider in Police and Civilian.
Rules for Precision and Overall (timed speed run and Slow Ride):

Tie-breaker - there will be one timed precision event that will be disclosed prior to scoring.

Riders will earn a ranking from 1-xx.

The Overall will consist of two components. A lengthy timed obstacle course immediately followed by a timed Slow Ride.

This event will determine the riders Overall category ranking.​

The Overall category will be determined by subtracting the riders Slow Ride time from their timed run.

It will determine the riders Slow Ride category ranking.

Top Rider will be determined by the addition of riders Precision and Overall ranking.​

Rider with the lowest points accumulated will be Top Rider.​

Tie-breakers:

Overall category will take precedence over Precision category.​

In the event of a continued tie, the rider with the better time in the timed speed portion of the Overall category.

​Random drawing will determine SMART ride teams.
​SMART Ride - Rules will be given prior to the event.
Team: This will be the same team from slow ride.

Team with fastest run will win.

The team time will stop at the occurrence of any of the following:
